WEEKLY STAFF MEETINGS


Hello Mr. Bertrand,

We have had a record month. Last year was a challenging year with personal issues and staffing problems, but we hired two new part-time ladies to job share the front desk responsibilities and a full time Program Director at the beginning of December. Everyone came to the table with energy and enthusiasm, and that made all the difference in the world! Last year we grossed just over $29K. This year we grossed just over $34K. That was a record month for us. The biggest factor in the month being so good for us was the rank camp we held from Dec 29 to Jan 3. We generated $5K on that camp alone. We held class for four hours over five days (excluding new years day). We tested students at the end of the week for new rank. The testing fee was included in the $250 camp fee. There were no discounts if the student did not test. There was even an excellent opportunity to teach life skills of perseverance, creative problem solving, indomitable spirit and more. One of the kids in the camp broke his toe with only one day left in the camp and was told by his doctor he could not continue. He was issued crutches. We modified the form, worked out a sparring routine, self defense routine using the crutches, and allowed him to break his boards sitting down so that he could test. It was very moving for everyone in the room to see this seven year old not give up and get it done! What a great lesson!

My new program director has a very positive "can do" attitude and just went out "walking and talking" as we call it and was responsible bringing in three new families just by meeting them out in shopping centers and so forth. In addition we had 11 first & second intros scheduled for this week.

Other stuff we have going from our December activities are a singles martial arts event on Jan 24th that could have anywhere from 15 to 60 participants. This event was arranged by my girlfriend who is making significant contributions to the business in many ways. We have a real estate self defense course tomorrow at Keller Williams realty. We are also teaming up with our Chamber of Commerce and another chamber member and creating the Chambers biggest loser contest. This is a 12 week weight loss program that will hold the weekly meetings at our facility beginning on January 21st. We have planned our next three months of activities that is attached for your review. We will be doing a glow chuck seminar, MMA seminar, New student orientation, and Parent's night out this month.

I am pretty excited about my new team and what we are getting done. I am also very excited about the Cornerman program, you, and UP being on our team and helping us along the way. Thank you guys so much for what you are doing. We are truly grateful for all the energy you guys put into making us successful.

Weekly Staff Meetings – NEW SERVICE available from United Professionals

They follow the UP Business Systems and mirror a very successful school owner, Bill Storm, in Syracuse, NY. Mr. Storm is the VP of United Professional's Corner Man group and not only does "one-on-one" coaching with school owners but is the also the trainers, trainer. He has been involved in the martial arts for over twenty years. His ability to lead and train staff is extremely powerful due to his inspiration, motivation and thorough understanding of the systems required to operate a successful business and quality martial arts academy.  

These are now available through UP and I have included a sample meeting.  The content of this meeting is the development of revenue generating events for you to bring your staff to the international convention.  This is truly a win – win project.   Your staff is given the tools to earn their way to the convention in December.  The convention will educate your staff and leave them super charged.  You can also use the ideas from the meeting to raise money for charities, demo team or other projects you might have.

They are an incredible tool and priced ridiculously low at $100 per month.   They will be available the week before you do your meetings so you have time to prepare.   Written notes on the meeting will also be made available also.

I've been a martial artist for 20 years. Over that time, I've learned how to keep my hands up and kick really hard and really fast.

What I never learned were the skills I would need to become a successful martial arts school owner and instructor.

On March 20, 2008, the day I opened my school, I was filled with doubt and worry. I'd never owned a business before in my life. Up until then I had spent 10 years working in corporate America, going nowhere fast. Would I get any students? How was I going to pay my rent?

Good Morning Mr. Silva,

Just wanted to give you a heads up on what we have going on. We joined the Cornerman Coaching program about a month ago. We are in R.S. Mitchell's group. When we joined Mr Mitchell, he was in Hawaii. We didn't expect to hear from him until he got back.

He ended up calling us the very next day from his home in Hawaii to begin the coaching. After several conversations we decided to do something we never did before.

Leave the school to our black belt instructors to teach and run the school on thursday to drive the six hours to visit his school to see how he did things. That was this past thursday and friday.

We arrived at about 5:30 pm to see the evening classes and after school program in full swing. Five full classes, plus the after school kids plus an intro all going on at the same time. Mr Mitchell then talked with us for the next couple of hours answering any and all questions we had.

The next (Friday) morning which is normally their "slow" day we met again. This time Mr Mitchell had us to talk to Conrad his right hand man about marketing. What we found out later was Conrad wasn't even supposed to be there at that time but Mr Mitchell pulled him in to talk to us.

Conrad then sat us down for the next 2-3 hours and explained some of their marketing programs again answering any and all questions we had.
Conrad knows marketing. He is one of the most knowledgeable people we have ever met at marketing a Martial Arts School.

It was good to know the things we are already doing right, the things we can improve on, and what new systems and programs to put in place now to be extemely profitable. Our goal is to fill every square inch of our school with programs running morning til' night.

We finished up with Mr & Mrs Mitchell and Conrad helping us to set a game plan as to where we want our business to go ...and how to market every single one with multi-layer advertising within the school and out. To say it was a worthwhile trip would be an understatement.

Anyone who is not in the coaching program really needs to get in it. If you have anyone on the fence about doing the Corner Man coaching.
